What is the Alumni Scholars Program?

The Ohio State Alumni Scholars Program offers recognition and financial support to incoming freshmen from across Greater Orlando. Sponsored by the Orlando Buckeyes, this merit-based scholarship is open to students attending any of Ohio State's campuses.

Recipients are selected based on their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and a deep commitment to their community—embodying the true Buckeye spirit.

Who is eligible?

  • Resident of, or attending high school in, Orange, Seminole, or Osceola County
  • Preferably admitted to The Ohio State University (any campus)
  • Record of involvement in both school and community activities
  • Sound academic performance and a positive attitude toward college work

How do I apply for an Orlando Buckeyes scholarship?

Apply to OSU

Submit your undergraduate application to The Ohio State University (preferred before applying for the scholarship).

Submit your scholarship application via OSU's ScholarshipUniverse portal at osu.scholarshipuniverse.com by February 15.

Local Review

Eligible Orange, Seminole, and Osceola County applicants are reviewed by our club's scholarship committee — no separate interview required.

Quick answers to what prospective scholars and their families ask most.

To be considered, applicants should preferably be admitted to The Ohio State University and be a resident of (or attend high school in) Orange County, Seminole County, or Osceola County.

Award amounts are set annually by the Orlando Buckeyes board and may renew based on continued enrollment and academic standing.

Applications are submitted through The Ohio State University's ScholarshipUniverse portal at osu.scholarshipuniverse.com and must be completed and submitted by February 15th to be reviewed for that cycle.

A demonstrated record of involvement in both school and community activities, sound academic performance, and a sound interest and positive attitude toward college work. The Orlando Buckeyes committee reviews everything submitted through ScholarshipUniverse — there is no separate application packet to send to the club.

Apply to The Ohio State University first (preferred), then submit your scholarship application through OSU's ScholarshipUniverse portal at osu.scholarshipuniverse.com by February 15th.

The Committee makes its decision based on the application submitted through OSU's ScholarshipUniverse portal. There is no separate interview round.
